Masters in Battery Technology – What to Expect?

    WatsonBy WatsonJune 24, 2022No Comments3 Mins Read

You can develop in-depth knowledge about battery science and electrochemical techniques by pursuing PG in battery technology and electrochemistry. Discover how it is important to energy, waste treatment, sensors, and the industry of electronics. You can also gain a lot of hands-on practical experience and graduate with a master’s degree that will in return, prepare you for a huge range of careers.

This degree course will look at the relationship between identifiable chemical changes and electricity. You will also gain practical and hands-on experience with electrochemical uses and techniques in batteries, sensors, fuel cells, and many others.

You will also learn about electrode reaction principles and study the techniques of battery processes and electrochemical reactions.

What will you expect from this course?

You might expect to study or learn the following in this master’s degree course:

    • In-depth knowledge regarding the use of electrochemical sciences in the field of research, economy, industry, and the environment.
    • You will develop skills to carry out and plan experiments and analyse the results.
    • You will also develop the ability to apply and adapt multiple techniques to solve problems.
    • You will have an enhanced knowledge of the latest developments in science in the field of battery technologies and electrochemistry.
    • This course will emphasize the application and theory of scanning microscopy (electrochemical), nanostructured microelectrodes, electrochemical process modelling, and microelectrodes.

Who the master’s in battery technology course is for?

    • It is a master’s level program with a general course duration of two years.
    • One needs to have a bachelor’s degree from a recognised university with the main field of study being biology, molecular biology, bioinformatics, biochemistry, biotechnology, medical technology, chemistry, medical informatics, biophysics, or pharmacy.
    • You also need to have practical and theoretical knowledge in biology, cell biology, molecular genetics, molecular biology, general chemistry, biochemistry, and organic chemistry.
    • You also need a minimum knowledge of mathematics.
    • This course structure will make you specialise in the domain of mechanical and electrical engineering that will deal with the principles of the EV (electric vehicle) industry.
    • The course must have industry-oriented projects to gain better knowledge from expert engineers in this industry.
    • This course can be chosen by graduates of engineering (mechanical, electrical, and mechatronics fields) who are interested in working in the R&D sector of the energy storage and automation industry.

What will you learn from this course?

You will learn and study the following topics:

    • Fundamentals of MATLAB
    • Mathematical modelling and simulation
    • Terminology and fundamentals of electrochemistry
    • Battery storage technologies and battery pack development/construction
    • Battery charging and management system
    • Computational dynamics of fluids and thermal management
    • Fluid dynamics and mathematics essentials
    • Basic CFD and MATLAB concepts
    • Solving CFD standard problems in Open-Foam
    • Working and engineering principles of design of the cooling system
    • System and sizing of components of cooling system
    • Battery configuration and cell characterisation using a MATLAB environment
    • Estimation of battery pack range for any vehicle (by using MsExcel).

    Endnote

Learners will be introduced to tools or software like MATLAB, Ansys Fluent, GT Suite, and C/C++. Through the knowledge and skills gained throughout this course, the students will be efficient in designing and building battery technology systems, especially for the EV (electric vehicle) industry. They will also turn power converter masters in battery technology.
