    Aconcagua Expeditions: Aconcagua Never Rests

    WatsonBy WatsonMay 9, 2021No Comments3 Mins Read

I had a great trip to Aconcagua Argentina, on the fast Aconcagua Ascenso expedition. The guides Luke, Michael, and Kiara, were fantastic and took care of everything. The pre-acclimatization tents worked very well. We went from sea level to almost 14,000 ‘and started hiking the next day with no problem. It was a shame, neither our team nor any other team reached the top due to the strong winds, but that’s a risk you take when climbing big mountains. The guides always kept us safe with constant weather updates and good equipment and provided lots of support from porters to make the trip more accessible and enjoyable. I hope to return to Aconcagua next year if El Niño has subsided and the weather is better. ! My Aconcagua experience was beautiful. Experiencing South America and the mountains with three guides made this experience different than what some other companies can provide, and that was what I was looking for. The guides not only knew and loved the mountains, but they also knew the land, the people, the culture in a way that you don’t get on other tours. You’ve been in 6000 meters, and you felt great. Now you are ready to put yourself to the test at 7000 mts.

While a 1000m seems like a small jump, the higher you go, the effects of altitude on your physiology increase exponentially. At the height of 6962 meters (22,841 feet), climbing Aconcagua represents a great altitude challenge and an exceptional opportunity to ensure that you can safely push your body to higher elevations. You don’t need an ice ax on Aconcagua, and most of the climbing is done on land. With the absence of glacier travel, your mind can focus on the summit task and moving uphill with less oxygen. It is by no means easy to climb Aconcagua. Still, the lack of snow and ice means that the difficulty surrounds the altitude and learning to recover efficiently with consecutive days of the movement in height. The non-technical nature of climbing Aconcagua implies that you don’t need an excellent climbing resume under your belt to make a solid attempt. Freight transport means that you will have the opportunity to lighten your load. Reducing the overall weight of your backpack saves energy while moving at altitude. We often say that “light is the right thing to do” in the climbing world, and the support of the goalkeeper gives us the ability to capitalize on that adage. If you live somewhere in the Western Hemisphere, traveling to the Himalayas carries a high cost in travel time to the mountains. Traveling to South America is a much easier journey for most of the western world. If you wanna test your skill at 7000m but have little time, climb Aconcagua cheap is a fantastic option for you.
