A GUIDE TO CHEMICAL CLEANING AIR-CONDITION

    WatsonBy WatsonNovember 5, 2021No Comments3 Mins Read

Chemical cleaning aircon is a process that involves using chemicals to clean the inside of an air conditioner. The outside can also be cleaned with this method, but it’s important to note that chemical cleaning aircon does not remove dirt or grime from the outside of an AC unit.

Cleaning your AC unit on your own can save you money, but make sure that you take the necessary precautions like wearing rubber boots or using safety goggles. It’s also important to consider hiring a service company if this is your first time cleaning an air conditioner.

While chemical cleaning of air conditioning units takes some time, it is rather simple and accessible for anyone comfortable working with their hands. You should be able to clean out all of the dirt in your inside AC unit with about two hours of effort, not including the time that it will take for you to find out how much ammonia you need. When done correctly, chemical cleaning of your AC unit should make it look new again.

Wearing rubber boots and safety goggles is important when working with chemicals, so don’t forget to wear this protection on your first-time chemical cleaning aircon. If you are not experienced in this kind of work, hiring a service company might be better for you, but if you have the right knowledge, you can save some money by cleaning air conditioning units yourself. You shouldn’t need any tools besides wire or a drill to clean an outside AC unit. For inside the AC unit, knowing how much ammonia you’ll need for each job will save some time, as will wearing gloves and goggles while performing manual cleaning.

The first step in chemical cleaning your AC unit is to find out how much ammonia you will need for the job. You can use online calculators or contact your local hardware store for help with this part of the process. Next, mix up two gallons (8 liters) of water and 2 cups (500 ml) of ammonia in a bucket and pour it into the bottom half of your AC unit.

Make sure you wear rubber gloves and safety goggles when you do this, as ammonia can irritate your skin or eyes. You should also wear rubber boots for this process because you will be working with chemicals.

After you’ve poured the mixture into your AC unit, spray it out using a pressure washer after waiting about 15 minutes. Afterward, you should be able to stick a small, flexible brush onto a power drill and easily remove dirt from the outside of your AC unit. Cleaning the inside of an AC unit requires more time and effort, but you can do it by inserting a wire into all of the crevices in your unit and manually removing any grime that you find.

When you’re finished with the manual cleaning process, spray out your AC unit once again with a pressure washer. If there are still spots on the inside or outside of your air conditioner that need attention, repeat this process until it is clean. Once you’ve completed all three steps — ammonia application, manual cleaning, and pressure washing — then you should have a much cleaner AC unit than before.
