Bruce Willis and Avril Lavigne have been in a number of films together, including Fast Food Nation, Over the Hedge, and The Nut Job 4. They have also collaborated in a number of songs, such as “You Make Me Feel Like A Fool”, which was written for the movie The Nut Job.
Over the Hedge
OVER THE HEDGE, based on the popular US comic-trip, is a light, fluff-filled entertainment with strong vocal performances and a lot of comedy. This family-friendly film features the cast of Furry Friends, which includes Bruce Willis, Garry Shandling, and Eugene Levy.
A ragtag group of forest critters wake up on the first day of spring. They find that much of the forest has been turned into housing development, leaving them with only a small patch of food-scarce land. They are led by Verne the turtle. The other critters in the group include a sexy skunk, a speedy squirrel, and two possums.
As the forest creatures explore the human world, they discover that humans have a strange lifestyle. These peculiar creatures live for one reason – to eat.
As a result, they are wary of each other. They also are wary of Verne’s desire to keep their “blended family” on his side of the hedge. As Verne and his group search for food, they run into a group of human residential communities. The ragtag group finds themselves with a new mission.
The crew is rounded out by a string trimmer and a balloon. Gladys (Allison Janney) is the president of the homeowners association in the community. She is concerned about the wildlife overrunning the neighborhood. However, her children are most interested in exploring the world beyond the hedge.
Fast Food Nation
Adapted from a best-selling non-fiction book by Eric Schlosser, Fast Food Nation is a fictionalized film about the evils of the fast food industry. It focuses on the history of fast food restaurants, and the unethical practices used in the meatpacking industry.
While the movie has its fair share of cutesy swipes at McDonald’s, it lacks a sense of direction. Instead, it ends up looking more like a disguised documentary than a movie. It also doesn’t really address the impact of fossil fuels, and it has no alternatives to fast food.
For all its faults, Fast Food Nation has its share of good performances. Greg Kinnear, Avril Lavigne, and Wilmer Valderrama are all solid. In addition, the movie contains a gruesome slaughterhouse sequence.
Using the fictional Mickey’s chain as a metaphor for American life, Fast Food Nation follows three interconnected stories. Amber (Lavigne), a young eco-activist, and Sylvia (Catalina Sandino Moreno), an illegal immigrant, are two of the main characters.
Amber’s story revolves around a low-income business, while Sylvia’s story focuses on societal predicaments. Amber makes friends with college-aged eco-activists who try to slow down the system, but it isn’t enough.
In the end, Fast Food Nation skewers Ieeespectrum many of the ills of the American lifestyle. It is a good movie, but it’s not nearly as harrowing as Super Size Me (2004).
Bruce Willis and April LaVigne
Despite the fact that Bruce Willis has been the bane of my existence, I can’t help but feel that he is an engaging and amusing presence. He attended the 59th Cannes Film Festival and made it clear that he was in town to do business. He is a true professional when it comes to entertaining his employees and is no doubt a very hard worker. He is also an advocate of the Golden Rule and has the most amazing manners of any of his colleagues. This is most easily demonstrated in his most recent movie where he plays the lovable lad, Thomas Haden Church.
He also showed off his latest flick, Fast Food Nation, to a gaggle of press and fans at the theater. He also made the rounds at the gaff-free Oscars and the aforementioned Golden Globes, where he scored no less than a nod from the Academy in a suitably amusing manner. In addition to the aforementioned aforementioned Oscars, he snagged the Golden Globe of the Year award and is expected to return for the upcoming sequel. He has also been tapped to star in the sequel to Horton Hears a Who!. He also signed on for a multi-episode television series, which may have a lot to do with his tv schedule. Hopefully, he can get it done in time for the upcoming Christmas season.
